Assistant professor at the Autonomous University of Madrid in the Department of Evolutionary Psychology and Education in the Faculty of Teacher Training. He has obtained his doctorate in 2013 at the University of Salamanca at the Institute of Community Integration (INICO) with the PhD program on Disability Research. He has worked as professor at the University of Salamanca, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, Catholic University of Murcia and University of Burgos.
His researches has focused on the analysis of the paradigm of universal design in educational environments -basic education and university-. In addition, he has developed different works analyzing the situation of people with disabilities in the university. These interests have led him to carry out internships at Columbia University and at the Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST), both in USA. In addition, it has developed training in the framework of universal design for learning in diferent Latin American countries which are Ecuador, Chile, Paraguay, Mexico, Costa Rica, among others.
Regarding his publications, the coordination of the text called “Design for All in Primary Education” is highlighted, a work carried out for the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE), together with the ONCE Foundation. Another book describing standards and best practices for the care of people with disabilities in the university, in addition to different scientific papers with high level of citations and reading in the main databases and academic indexing.
On the other hand, he has participated in different projects related to disability and quality of life issues, as well as in a European project named EN-ABILITIES. He has been a coordinator and he has collaborated member to improve the empowerment of people with disabilities in learning a second language. He has also participated in various educational innovation projects, highlighting the work to give visibility to the paradigm of universal design for learning in Spanish.
