Exhibition “Ex-Presa_Ex-Preso, from the museum to the prison. Intimacies in pause”

#Madrid #MuseoArtesDecorativas # 10Mayo2019 We are pleased to invite you to the inauguration of the exhibition “Ex-Presa_Ex-Preso, from the museum to the prison. Intimacies in pause”, of María del Río (GICE-UAM) and María Villalba (UAM). It will take place at the Museum of Decorative Arts of Madrid (C / Montalbán, 12) on Friday, May 10 at 1:00 p.m.

The exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Association of Friends and the Madrid V-Soto del Real Penitentiary Center, presents the creative process carried out by six men and two women from different parts of the world, based on the experience of intimacy proposed by the home. The work was part of a project to develop artistic expression and free creation, which took place between April and July 2018 in the penitentiary. Its objective was to explore experiential areas devitalized, stopped and even forgotten, in relation to an internal space that everyone could call home.

The exit to the museum and subsequent exhibition constitute one of the backbones of the project. It was considered essential to offer the possibility of interpreting their collections as a way to learn about domestic and intimate objects throughout history. During the visit, the pieces of the museum were joined by the experiences and personal belongings of each member of the group, favoring a more realistic reflection on intimate spaces, adding depth to the expressive process and promoting the creation of unique and own productions.
